Automatic captions can provide a starting transcript. The final result still needs a careful review of the words, timing and placement.
Prepare a clear source recording
Use the cleanest version of the audio you have. Remove unnecessary background noise before generating the first transcript. Keep the original recording so corrections can be checked against it.
Correct the transcript
- Read the transcript while listening to the recording.
- Correct names, numbers and technical terms.
- Remove accidental repeated words where appropriate.
- Keep the speaker's intended meaning.
Adjust timing and placement
Check the start and end of every caption. Break long sentences into readable phrases. Preview the video with interface controls visible so the text does not sit underneath them.
Review the final export
Watch the exported file rather than relying only on the editing preview. Check the first and last caption and a few points in the middle. Save the corrected transcript for future reuse.
